When we assess damage, we consider the water type (ranging from 1 to 3) and contamination level. This helps us determine what can be saved and what needs to be discarded based on the different water categories:
- Category 1: This involves damage caused by clean water sources like broken water lines, overflowing sinks, or fresh rainwater.
- Category 2: Here, water is moderately contaminated with substances. This may include backflows from dishwashers or washing machines, toilet overflows without feces, or remnants from a broken aquarium.
- Category 3: Unfortunately, this involves exposure to harmful elements such as pathogens, toxins, or other hazardous agents. Common sources include sewage, waste line disruptions, or flooding from seawater, rivers, and streams.
- The necessary steps include water removal, drying and dehumidification, as well as application of antimicrobial products.
